PARQUE NATURAL LAGO DE SANABRIA Y ALREDEDORES

Declared a Natural Park in the year 1978, this place is in the north-west of the province of Zamora (Spain), in the foothills of the Sierra Cabrera and Segundera.

 

 

It is an impressive glacier more than 20 kilometers, which gives rise to the largest lake of Spain.

 

 

Numerous diurnal raptors fly over the park as the Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos), Osprey (Pandion haliaetus), Booted Eagle (Hieraaetus pennatus), Short-toed Snake Eagle (Circaetus gallicus), Red Kite (Milvus milvus), Black Kite (Milvus migrans), Egyptian Vulture (Neophron percnopterus), European Honey Buzzard (Pernis apivorus), Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus) and Eurasian Eagle-Owl (Bubo bubo). 

You can also see birds such as Red-backed Shrike (Lanius collurio), Yellowhammer (Emberiza citrinella), Bluethroat (Luscinia svecica), Grey Partridge (Perdix perdix).

 

In the forests of oak trees you can see many different species as Eurasian Bullfinch (Pyrrhula pyrrhula), Eurasian Bullfinch (Garrulus glandarius), Hoopoe (Upupa epops).
